Frewen College Sixth Form: A Specialist Sixth Form Where Students with Dyslexia Thrive

Frewen College Sixth Form is a specialist Sixth Form in East Sussex for students with dyslexia and co-occurring Specific Learning Differences. Combining personalised support with academic and vocational pathways, we help students build confidence, achieve recognised qualifications and prepare successfully for university, apprenticeships and future careers. As one of the UK's leading specialist dyslexia schools, we empower every student to reach their full potential.

What Makes Frewen College Sixth Form Different?

Frewen College is a specialist independent day and boarding school for students aged 11 to 19, with a long-established reputation for supporting young people with dyslexia and co-occurring Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs). Our school philosophy is centred around helping students Aspire, Believe and Achieve through evidence-based teaching, small class sizes and individual support.

The Sixth Form builds on this foundation by preparing students for adulthood, higher education and employment. Rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all model, Frewen creates personalised programmes that recognise the strengths, interests and aspirations of each student.

Specialist Dyslexia Support Throughout Sixth Form

At Frewen College, specialist support does not stop at age 16. Every student benefits from ongoing academic and pastoral support, including dedicated learning mentors and form tutors who work closely with them throughout their studies. This ensures students can access the guidance they need while also developing the independence required for life beyond Frewen.

Frewen's expertise in dyslexia-friendly teaching methods, assistive technology and personalised learning strategies helps students build on their strengths and overcome barriers to learning. As a result, those who join Frewen experience significant growth in confidence, self-esteem and academic achievement.

A Wide Range of Academic and Vocational Courses

One of the biggest advantages of Frewen College Sixth Form is the breadth of opportunities available to students.

Through our partnership with Bexhill College, students can access a diverse range of academic and vocational qualifications, including A Levels, BTECs and other courses. This flexibility allows students to pursue pathways that match their ambitions while continuing to benefit from Frewen's expert learning support.

Whether a student is aiming for university, an apprenticeship or employment, Frewen helps create a route that is both realistic and ambitious.

Building Independence and Life Skills

Success at Sixth Form is about more than exam results. At Frewen College Sixth Form, students are encouraged to develop leadership, communication and independent living skills. Opportunities include participating in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, Young Enterprise, mentoring younger students, The Frewen Diploma, organising events such as the Sixth Form Young Enterprise Summer Fair and contributing to the wider school community. These experiences help students prepare for life beyond Frewen.

Day and Boarding Sixth Form in East Sussex

Frewen College welcomes both day students and boarders, creating a supportive and inclusive Sixth Form community.

For many students, boarding offers additional opportunities to develop independence, organisational skills and self-confidence. Flexible boarding options are also available, making it easier for families seeking a balance between home life and residential education.

Situated in East Sussex and within reach of London and the South East, Frewen College attracts families from across the UK and internationally looking for a specialist Sixth Form that understands and supports neurodiverse learners.

Sixth Form Results and Future Success

We have a strong track record of helping students progress to successful and fulfilling futures. Our students consistently achieve excellent outcomes in both academic and vocational qualifications, enabling them to move confidently on to university, further education, apprenticeships and employment.

We offer a broad and flexible Sixth Form curriculum, with students studying a range of Level 2 BTEC, Level 3 BTEC and A Level qualifications. Courses are available across a wide variety of subjects, including Art, Business, Catering, History, Maths, Media Studies, Music, Product Design and many more.

In 2025, Frewen College maintained an outstanding 100% pass rate across all Sixth Form courses, with 50% of Level 3 students achieving Distinction grades in their chosen qualifications.

Our alumni have gone on to enjoy successful careers across a diverse range of industries, including publishing, art, music and film and television.

While academic achievement is important, our focus extends far beyond examination results. We are committed to developing well-rounded, capable young adults who leave Frewen College with the skills, self-belief and determination to embrace the opportunities of the next stage of their lives.
