Our outstanding team
Our staff are our biggest strength.
Unlike even the majority of Specialist Provision schools, most of our classroom staff, including Teaching Assistants, have specialist dyslexia qualifications, or are undergoing training for them. We provide you with a full staff list in the 'Information' section, which shows details of qualifications held. Much of our In Service Training supplements this specialist training.
We maintain average class sizes at below six, and one to one mentoring is available when needed.
We have two full time therapists, each of whom has undertaken valuable supplementary training. Claire Burdge, our Occupational Therapist, has training in Sensory Integration, and Bethany Driver, our Speech and Language Therapist, is trained in Audio Therapy.
We take the pastoral side of our role as seriously as the educational. As well as our highly experienced boarding care team, we have two trained mentors and Registered General Nurse who can provide additional support when needed.
And then there are our much loved canine 'Assistant Therapists', Nessie the Westie, George the Black Labrador, and Douglas the Border Terrier. Particularly appreciated by the boarders, they are also very popular with visitors ... and even catch the odd rabbit to help the gardeners!
When it comes to preparing for life after Frewen, we have a specialist Careers and Work Experience Consultant with a lifetime of professional experience, whose success is reflected in the number of work placements that result in offers of employment.
Our support staff too are extremely well qualified and experienced, and help to ensure that the highest standards are maintained across all aspects of the school's operations.
