Other Outdoor Sports
We offer a wide range of sports and have excellent facilities for such a small school.
Swimming
We have a 30m outdoor swimming pool which is usually open from May until September. Unfortunately due to the proximity of the pool to our Grade 1 listed main house we are not allowed to enclose the pool, so during the remaining months boarders and juniors sometmes use a nearby indoor facility at Tenterden.
Highlight of the year is the Annual Swimming Gala, and we also host a gala for local junior schools.
The pool is a great favourite with the boarders, both at weekends and in the evenings, summer weather permitting!
Athletics
Our large playing fields give ample room for a grass athletics track in the summer, and we also provide a full range of field sports. A number of pupils compete with distinction in the ISA Regional Athletics Meetings. The Annual Sports Day sees fierce competition between houses, with some excellent performances, but some of the loudest cheers are always saved for those who may come last but have triumphed just by finishing.
Soccer
Probably the most popular sport in every boys school, we are no exception. We have a full sized soccer pitch, as well as an all-weather floodlit five-a-side court. Most of our girls also enjoy joining in, particularly when they can gain the upper hand!
Paul's principal focus has been on building up technical skills, which has made the team much more competitive. We enter the annual Under 13's Football Festival at Northease Manor, and this year were delighted to be presented with the Fair Play Trophy. Although conceding just four goals in the tournament we did not get through to the Final, but there's always next year!
Additional Sports
We also offer Tennis, Hockey, Basketball and Netball, as well as Horse Riding as an after school activity. More information on these will follow.
