Aims & Objectives
Frewen's Technology Department aims to provide pupils with the opportunity to progress their designing and making skills to match their intellectual and innovative abilities. This is achieved through learning by experience in a caring, calm and purposeful environment.
Pupils are encouraged to develop their planning skills and communicate their design ideas and ways of thinking about human culture through a 'hands on' and practical approach.
All pupils are encouraged to engage in the experience of working with tools, equipment, materials and components to make quality products regardless of their ability or individual special needs.
Pupils develop their ability to evaluate products and processes through practical experience, and develop an understanding of these both within the environment and in a consumer society.
Compensatory strategies are adopted to ensure curriculum access for all pupils according to their needs.
It is the objective of the department that through engaging in creative problem solving activities and producing realistic solutions, pupils should both further their intellectual development, and gain an increased understanding of the rapidly changing world within which they live.
