Occupational Therapy

Frewen has it's own team of professional therapists

The Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapists are Nicki Foster, who is the Occupational Therapy Team Lead.  Nicki is joined by Christine Mitchell, our Therapy Assistant, and, for part of the week, by Valerie Wood, Specialist Paediatric Physiotherapist.  All therapists have been trained to OCN Level 3 in Practical Solutions for Dyslexia, along with their professional qualifications.

The Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapist are able to address a wide range of functional difficulties which affect students’ educational development.  These may include assessment and treatment of difficulties with visual perception, handwriting, fine and gross motor skills, coordination, sensory processing, planning and organising and independence skills.

The therapists also regularly liaise and work closely with teaching and boarding staff, as well as with the students, to underpin their learning and development and support progress throughout the school curriculum.

The Therapists have an open door policy where parents/carers are welcome to attend therapy sessions with their children, to enable ongoing support with development at home and at school.  The Therapists are also available on parent’s evenings and at other times by arrangement, either in person or by phone.  Contact by email is also welcomed, as follows:  nicki.foster@frewencollege.co.uk, valerie.wood@frewencollege.co.uk.
